Mrs Bertha Walker Herring, 82, of 1505 Princess Street, died in New Hanover Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am from Yopp Funeral Home by the Rev John Stephenson. Burial will be in the Oleander Memorial Gardens.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest G Herring Sr, two daughters, Mrs W S Moore of Lumberton and Mrs Edwin L West Sr of Durham; one son, Ernest G Herring Jr of Durham; six sisters, Mrs Emmaler Glosson of Burlington, Mrs Victoria Adams of Graham, Mrs Pearl Jarrell of Thomasville, Mrs Ruth McNeil of Norfolk, Va, Mrs Doshia McNeil of Wilmington and Mrs Leila Hudson of Raleigh; two brothers, Teed Walker of Burlington and Rufus Walker of Lexington; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
She was born in Columbus County April 27, 1889, daughter of the late Joel and Caroline Wilkins Walker.
The family will be at Yopp Funeral Home Wednesday from 7-9 pm to receive friends.
