Johnnie Cecil Etier, Mangham, LA

A memorial service for Johnnie Cecil Etier will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2010, at the Mangham United Methodist Church. Bro. Marshall Sevier will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time for the service and immediately following the service.

Johnnie was a life long resident of Mangham, the youngest of five children born on March 14, 1918, to Frank Alex and Minnie Kathryn Etier and passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at his home.

He was an active member of Mangham United Methodist Church where he held numerous offices. He owned and operated Mangham Cleaners with his brother Frank for over 30 years.

Mr. Johnnie recently retired from the cattle and cotton farming and served on the Richland Parish Farm Bureau Board of Directors for many years.

Always a hard worker, Mr. Johnnie donated his body to LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport for the advancement of medical education and research so he will be at work even at death.

Preceding him in death were his parents and three sisters, Maud Cagle, Claude Pardue, Mary Reeves and one brother Frank Etier.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 70 years Lorraine Harper Etier, two daughters, Camille and husband Gerry Marchbank, Kathryn and husband Tim Fife; five grandchildren, Bill Marchbank and wife Janice, Johnnie Marchbank and wife Laura, Lynn Marchbank, Timothy Fife and wife Jackie, Hunter Fife and wife Le; six great-grandchildren, Carter Marchbank, Blake and Sarah Marchbank, Savannah and Avery Harwell, and Ella Paisle Fife.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude's Hospital or Mangham United Methodist Church.

The family wishes to thank April Moss RN and Mary Petty CNA with Mangham Home Care for outstanding care given to Johnnie. Also thank you to Hospice Family Alliance for the wonderful care he received, especially Renita Blunschi, RN, Denise Bonner, RN, Willia Mae Sanders, CNA, Seila CNA, Kenye Anderson, LPN and Delores Tillery LPN.
