Sara Brown Benson, 86, of Marietta, Georgia, died October 3, 2013. Funeral Services were held at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta. Rev. Dr. William Camp, Rev. Reed Benson, Rev. Bill Abbott, and Rev. Charles Harrell officiated. Interment followed in Marietta City Cemetery in Marietta.

Mrs. Benson was a life long resident of Cobb County. She was the widow of the late Rev. Thomas "Tom" Benson. Mrs. Benson has taught Sunday School for 54 years. She was a member of Roswell Street Baptist Church. She retired from Office Sales and Service in Marietta after 25 years of service. Mrs. Benson was a pastors wife for 43 ½ years serving in the church including Vinings Baptist Church, New Providence Baptist Church, Lost Mountain Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church, and Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Acworth.

Survivors include her daughter, Ginger and her husband, Rev. Charles Harrell of Louisville, KY; son, Rev. Reed Benson and his wife, Pat of Sylva, NC; two sisters, Shirley Miller of Marietta, Linda New of Cave Springs; brother, Jack Brown of Marietta; sister-in-law, Judy Brown of Cartersville; four grandchildren, Laura Short, Ben Harrell, Thomas R. Benson III, Megan Benson; five great-grandchildren, Luke Harrell, Ashley Harrell, Kira Short, Wade Short, Bella Benson; several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
