Virgil passed away peacefully at his home in Bluffdale, Utah, on January 3, 2009 at the age of 78. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lena, and his six children: Lynn (Stan) Richins of Yuba City, California; Dean (Kathy) Anderson of Kaysville, Utah; David (Marlyse) Anderson of Bluffdale, Utah; Daniel (Kim) Anderson of Kaysville, Utah; Corey (Pam) Anderson of Redmond, Washington; and Sherri (Ty) Kehoe of Las Vegas, Nevada; two step-children, Tim Shatto and Valori Fletcher. Virgil is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born in High River, Alberta, Canada, and raised with his two older sisters in the small town of Frankburg, Alberta, Virgil graduated with a Law Degree from the University of British Columbia in 1960 and practiced law for nearly 30 years. Though he was a lawyer by occupation, he was a cowboy at heart, and spent many happy years with his family on their ranch in Priddis, Alberta. Virgil's love of life and enthusiasm for adventure lead to a full and rich life which he generously shared with many friends and family. Virgil and Lea moved to Utah in 2002 where they resided until his passing.

Memorial held in his honor at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 405 Dunham Lane N.W., Turner Valley, Alberta, on Wednesday, January 7th, 2009.
Funeral services held at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main on Friday, January 9th, 2009.
