Eunice E. Kappes, 94, Ada, Minnesota, died Monday, September 1, 2008, at Bridges Medical Center, Ada. Eunice Elizabeth Sorensen was born at home on November 2, 1913, in Mary Township, near Perley, MN. She attended country school near her home and later attended Borup, (MN) High School. After her school years, she worked for a physician in St. Cloud, MN. Eunice was united in marriage to Lawrence P. Kappes on July 26, 1941, in Crookston, MN. They lived and farmed near Borup, until retiring in 1977 and moving into Borup. Eunice was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, and Ladies Aid, in Felton, MN, for many years before joining St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Ada. Lawrence died in 1989. Eunice continued to live in Borup before moving to Ada in 2000. She recently entered the Bridges Care Community in Ada. She enjoyed her gardening, both vegetables and flowers, along with quilting. She was a special homemaker and wonderful cook.

Eunice is survived by one son, Larry (Jan) Kappes, Lake Nebagamon, WI, one daughter, Lorraine (Carl) Holstad, New London, MN, two grandchildren, Jerod (Angie) Kappes, Tara (John) Burmood, five great grandchildren, three sisters, Emma Kappes, Ada, MN, Ilene Kappes, Twin Valley, MN, Betty (George) Coleman, Temple, TX, four sisters-in-law, Margie Sorensen, Marlys Kappes, Lois Kappes, all of Ada, MN, and Dorothy Stock, of Fargo, ND, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lawrence, and two brothers, Harry and Ted. Funeral Service: Wednesday, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ada, MN. Visitation: Tuesday from 5-7 PM at Fredrikson Funeral Home, Ada, and one hour before the funeral Wednesday at the church. Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
