Joseph E. Baker, 85, Kendallwood, Meyersdale RD 3, died Tuesday April 29, in the Somerset Community Hospital. He had been ill about two days.
He was born in Larimer Township May 13, 1866. His parents were John and Lydia (Shumaker) Baker. His wife, Rachael Kendall, whom he married July 9, 1891, died some years ago. She was a sister of the late Congressman Samuel A. Kendall and of Miss Mattie Kendall of Meyersdale.Mr. Baker, familiarly known as "Uncle Joe" was a well known farmer of Greenville township.He was a member of the Greenville Lutheran Church.Funeral services were held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 oclock at the Konhaus Funeral Home, Meyersdale, his pastor, the Rev. George A. Bowersox officiating. Interment in the Hostetler Cemetery.
