Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Gordon. Interment: will follow in New Gordon Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Strawn. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Melba was born in Gordon on Feb. 10, 1927, to Hugh and Emma Askew Segars. She grew up in Gordon and was a graduate of Gordon High School. She married Loy Blue on March 8, 1946, in Strawn and he preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2005. After they married they moved to Odessa where Melba worked for Pioneer Gas Company as a bookkeeper and for Jo Ann's Shop in sales and bookkeeping. When the children were grown they moved back to Gordon.
Melba was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gordon and active in Sunday school. She was also president of the Over The Hill Gang.
Melba was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Alverda Edwards; and brother, Edward Segars.
Survivors: Daughters, Jo Ann McComack and husband, James, of Odessa and Judy Hargis of Mineral Wells; a brother, Weldon Segars of Crowley; a sister, Mary Watson of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Jamie Almond, Jason McComack, Jeffrey and Justin Humphrey; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
