Elizabeth Carrie Spence, daughter and William and Mary Spence, was born in Seward, Nebr., April 27 1884, and passed away Sept. 1, 1944, at the age of 60 years, 4 months, 5 days.

Her girlhood was spent near Louisville, Nebr. When a young woman she taught school for several years.

On April 2, 1912, she was united in marriage to William Flock. Six children were born to this union, three having died in infancy.

At an early age she became a Christian and lived a true Christian life of unselfishness and sacrifice. She was never too tired nr too ill to help another in distress.

Besides her husband, she leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Linnaeus of Omaha and Marlin with the army at Meridian, Miss., a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Dodson of Maywood; her father, W.B. Spence of Summerfield, Kans; five grandchildren; four sisters—Eva Spence of Summerfield, Kans.; Grace spence of Axtell, Kans.; Mrs. Phoebe Potter of Republican City; Mrs. Mary Polnicky of Red Cloud; five brothers—Edgar of Lorraine, Ohio; Dewitt of Denver; Sidney of Elm Creek; Joe of Maywood, and Robert of Axtell, Kans.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church of Maywood on Monday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m. The Rev. R. W. Moore officiated and was assisted by Rev. L.A. Moore of Curtis. Interment was in Maywood Cemetery.
