Galena Times Republican - Friday Mar 19, 1937: Funeral Rites Wednesday for Matterson (Matt) Lane: Funeral Services for Matterson (Matt) Lane, 68 years old, who died shortly before 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at his home 916 Main Street, were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o' clock at the Sixth Street Baptist Curch with the Rev. J.C. Thogmorton, pastor in charge. Burial was in Republic, Missouri. Lane became ill early Sunday Night and lapsed into unconsciousness almost immediately. He never regained consciousness. Death was due to uremic poisoning. Lane came to Galena from Carthage about 12 years ago. He was a driller and worked throughout the district. He was active in the local Republican party. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice Lane; three daughters Mrs. Ralph Sears of Commerce, Mrs. Irene Booth of Eureka and Miss Eula Lane at home; two sons Eugene Lane of Dallas, Texas and Truman Lane of Galena; a brother Frank Lane of Aurora, Missouri; three sisters and six grandchildren, Billie Booth of Eureka, Clifford, Everett, Mary Margaret, Reba and Ralph Sears of Commerce.
