Services for Granberry Holland Ward Jr. will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Sykes officiating. A private graveside service and burial will be held at the Ward Family Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ward, 85, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his military service he attended and graduated from Georgia Tech University. He was a retired electrical engineer and entrepreneur.

Survivors include his daughters, Sela Ward and her husband, Howard Sherman and Jenna Ward, all of Los Angeles; sons, Granberry Holland Ward III and his wife, Hallie, of Meridian and Brock Ward of Boulder, Colo.; his loving companion, Cecile Bogan; grandchildren, Austin Ward Sherman, Anabella Raye Sherman, Savannah Layne Ward, Anne Tyler Ward and Granberry Holland Ward IV; a sister, Celeste Eggerton and her husband, Fred, of Meridian.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Kate Ward.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Building Fund, which was dear to his heart. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at the church.
