Temple B. Stanley was born Oct. 17, 1810, in Guilford County, North Carolina, and died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Morris Thomas, in Colfax, Iowa, August 14, 1892.
He removed from his native state to Indiana in 1832 and to Iowa in 1860, and was for many years a resident of Kellogg. His wife died July 9, 1883, and since that time he had made his home with his children in Iowa, Oregon, Colorado and Kansas. There were born to him five sons and three daughters, all whom were living at the time of his death.
Mr. Stanley was a devout Christian, being a member of the Society of Friends at Lynnville. He was of a kindly disposition, quiet and unassuming, with all the leading traits of character that go to make up an honest and patriotic citizen and faithful friend.
The remains arrived from Colfax on the noon train Monday and conveyed to the home of his son R. J., where funeral services were held the same afternoon conducted by Elder T. F. Odenweller, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Kellogg cemetery.
