Mrs. Pierre Varmon Daigle
(July 1, 1925 - January 11, 2009)

Church Point, La. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Guidry Funeral Home, Church Point for Mrs. Pierre Varmon Daigle, 83, the former Hilda Sonnier. Mrs. Daigle, a native and lifelong resident of Church Point, died at 3:15 P.M. Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Southwest Medical Center; Lafayette, La. Monsignor Jefferson J. DeBlanc will conduct the services with entombment following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Mausoleum; Highway 35, Church Point. Survivors include three sons: James Carlos and wife Mary Carriere Daigle of Youngsville, La., Timothy Eric and wife Becky Cormier Daigle of Alexandria, La. and Todd and wife Ann Higginbotham Daigle of Church Point; two daughters, Brenda Briggs and husband Kenney of Broussard, La. and Phyllis Castille and husband Calvin of Maurice, La.; sixteen grandchildren: Jason Porcillo, Josh Strickland, Melissa Leret, Keith and Peter Briggs, Chad and Brandon Daigle, Tara Dohmann, Huey and Ashley Daigle, Jack Higginbotham, Ben and Chris Daigle, Christine Johnson, Sharon Smith and David Castille and thirty-four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pierre Varmon Daigle; her parents, Oleus and Marie Daigle Sonnier; a granddaughter, Samantha Paige Daigle; five brothers and four sisters.

The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 13 and continue from 8:00 A.M. Wednesday until the time of the services. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.

Retired for some years, Mrs. Daigle indulged a passion for quilting. She was a member of the American Legion Post 225 Auxiliary and the Church Point Rosary Group, as well. The last of ten siblings who came from a long line of love; she may rest assured that that love will continue through her descendants.
