GIBSON - Gladys Geraldine Askew Gibson, of Folkston, passed away February
27, 2000 at the Charlton Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Folkston and
graduated from Charlton County High School and attended Ogelethorpe
University where she studied Fine Art. She was a resident of Atlanta, where
she lived with her husband, C.B. Gibson, for most of her life. After her
husband retired from Eastern Airlines, they moved back to Folkston, where
they lived until her death. She was a world traveler, and a lover of
animals. Her love for her family and friends will always be remembered by
those she touched. She was a member of the Folkston United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father Albert Leon Askew; mother, Mary Ida
Askew; brother, Albert Leon Askew, Jr.; sister, Mary Inez Burney. Survivors
include: her husband, C.B. Gibson of Folkston; nieces, Geraldine (Larry)
Dillard of Folkston, GA, Mary Lane (Robert) and Dana Elise (Randy Guy) both
of Jacksonville Beach, FL; sister-in-law, Betty Hodges of Atlanta GA; many
great nieces and nephews. Services will be held Wednesday March 1, at 11:00
AM at the Folkston United Methodist Church with Rev. Ross Tracey,
officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery. The family will receive
friends Tuesday evening from 6-9:00 PM. Pallbearers will be: Larry Dillard,
Dan Green, Brian Johnson, Randy Guy, Chad Green, Chad Dillard. Arrangements
under the direction of SHEPARD FUNERAL HOME in Folkston, Georgia.
