Death of Grandma Jones
Kesiah Ham was born December 25, 1848 in Virgina and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Adolph Prell in David City, on August 14, 1939 at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 19 days.
On December 27, 1868, she was united in marriage to John R. Jones. To this union were born seven children, four of which preceeded her in death. Her husband passed away January 24, 1915 [1917]. In June 1872 they homesteaded in Nebraska. She was a charter member of the First Baptist church of David City.
Grandma Jones leaves to mourn, her passing, three children, Mrs. Adolph Prell, David City; Edward R. Jones of Bellwood and Roy E. Miami, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grand-children and many friends who will sadly miss her. Mrs. Jones was a deeply religious woman and always gave many expressions of her faith which she manifested in her life.
Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the McVay Funeral home, with Rev Spaude of Surprise, a nephew of Mrs. Jones, giving the sermon.
Music was furnished by Miss Iro Allen and Mrs. H. H. Gunderson with Miss Gertie Neff at the piano. They sang, "It Is Well With My Soul," "Abide With Me," and "Rock of Ages."
The casket bearers were Glen Duncan, Ted Welte, Jon Schweser, John Mulligan, Floyd Wrede and Herman Walden.
Burial was in the David City cemetery.
