"Lawrany" (Luraline) Thompson was born @ Wilkes Co., GA where she met and married JL Catching. It is highly likely that she was born after the death of her father (d. pre-Feb 1783). The Catching family (JL & brothers Joseph & Phillip) moved to Pike Co., MS by 1809. He and his brother fought in the War of 1812 (see "MS Military Records"). By 1819 the family had moved up to what is today's Hinds County and a built a fine home. The house was burned down during the Civil War. This cemetery is located down the hill from that home site.

After the 1833 death of Lawrany, JL Catching married W#2 Martha
Fairchild Gallman (widowed).

It was previously believed that Lawrany was a d/o Isham & Elizabeth Thompson but new records (2014) & DNA tests have now fully confirmed her parents as John & Tabitha Thompson. Lawrany was the youngest of the five children of John & Tabitha Thompson.

Catching children: Eliza A. Catching Allbritton b. 1806 GA -d. 1834 MS (FAG.com #32735139), Augustus Catching b. 1808 GA-d. 1865 MS, & Catherine Ann Catching Collins b. 1812 MS-d. 1883 MS-FAG.com #11402914.

Although family Bible records state that Lawrany was "b. 1783" other legal records show that she was "b. 1775/6". She was older than her husband and older at her death than her family believed her to be.

**In several of the earliest records the family was erroneously spelled phonetically as "Kitchens".
