Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs Minerva Shavalier, a well known resident of Leamington, who passed away at the home of her daugter, Mrs Gordon Griggs, on Thursday last. She was in her 84th year and had been ill for four months.
A resdient of Leamington for the past 31 years, she was born near Guelph the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Rodney McKague. She was married to John Shavalier about 64 years ago and the couple came to reside in Leamington about 1912. Mr Shavalier who was a millwright predeceased his wife 13 years ago.
Surviving are one son, Otto of Sarnia, and fur daughters, Mrs Cyrus Balkwill of Windsor, Mrs Mary Crannock of MI, Mrs Ed Selli pf Point Pelee, and Mrs Gordon Griggs of Leamington. One brother, James McKague of Barrow Bay also survives.
The funeral services were held at Fergusons Funeral Parlors, Erie Street north at 2 pm on Saturday with Rev G K Tyler officiating. Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery.
