Elizabeth "Libby" Wyrick Andrews, 83, of Roanoke, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 5, 2009.
She was the daughter of the late Willis French Wyrick and Grace V. Hawks. She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Andrews; and a brother, James H. Wyrick.
Libby was born in Marion, Va. She graduated from Marion High School and attended National Business College in Roanoke, Va. She worked for N & W Railway Company and retired from Community Hospital.
She is survived by four sons, William David Andrews and wife, Peggy Andrews, of Egg Harbor, N.J., Robert L. Andrews and wife, Mary Frances, of Tuckahoe, N.J., Gordon W. Andrews and wife, Mary Ellen, of Mays Landing, N.J., and Forrest A. Andrews, of Millville, N.J. She is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn Wyrick Thompson, of Salem, and Ella (Tiny) Wyrick Wilson and husband, Dr. Bayes E. Wilson, of Salem; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special dog, JR.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 8, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey and Son, Salem. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. James D. Thomas of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke.
