KNOX CITY -- Virginia Mae Adkins, 78, of O'Brien, died Thursday, October 23, 2003 at an Abilene Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 3:00pm, Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the First Baptist Church with Brother Bobby King officiating. Burial will follow at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Mansell- Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Adkins was born May 6, 1925 in Alexander City, Alabama, the daughter of the late J.W. Tankersley and Virgie Sasser Tankersley. She married Edwin Adkins January 9, 1947 in Haskell, Texas at the Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jim Edd Adkins; brother, Buddy Tankersley; sisters, Ozelle Stephens and Mamie Emerson.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Adkins of O'Brien; daughter, Mary Lynn Fowler of Hobbs, NM; brother, Samuel Tankersley of Knox City; sisters, Estelle Hawkins of Haskell, Ruth Middlerooks of Knox City; two grandchildren, Brian Anthony Fowler, Leigh Anne Bass; two great-grandchildren Madison Nicole Fowler, Brayden Lane Folwer; and one step-great-grandchild, Lecy Blauvelt.
A visitation was held Friday, October 24, 2003 at the funeral home. Viewing will also be held from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. today.
