Max Edwards, 84, died Saturday, February 3, 2007.
Born Sept. 10, 1922, in rural Sylvia, he was the son of E.C. "Fat" and Henrietta DeFrieze Edwards. He was a lifelong Sylvia resident, and was a farmer /stockman, and also had pumped oil wells.
He had a lifetime passion for flying, was a member of the USD 310 Fairfield Board of Education, the tri-county vocational board, Sylvia Township Board and the Sylvia Co-Op board.
On Christmas Eve 1943, he married Alma Margaret Hackler at Hutchinson. She survives.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Dana Fitzgibbons and her husband Michael, Olathe, Miriam Brichacek and her husband Gary, Hesston, and Janene Crosley and her husband Donald Jr., Wichita; a sister, Margaret Meadows and her husband Myrel, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Bill Brichacek, Cadet Andrea Joy Brichacek, Kevin Fitzgibbons, Joseph Brichacek and Mercedes Crosley; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, at Minnis Chapel, Stafford, with Mike Murphy, Bob Statton, Bill Hackler and Ralph Hackler presiding. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the chapel. There will be a private family burial following the funeral at Sylvia Cemetery. Friends and family are invited and encouraged to come to the Sylvia Church of Christ following the funeral service for light refreshments and visiting.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or "In Search of the Lord's Way," all in care of the chapel.
