Raymond I. Brackett, 73, died surrounded by his loving family on Dec. 29, 2008, at Promise Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Aug. 16, 1935, at Quincy, Mass, the son of Harold W. and Doris M. Look Brackett. He had been a Hutchinson resident since 1953.
He was a 1953 graduate of Braintree High School, Braintree, Mass., and a 1956 graduate of Hutchinson Community College. He retired after 11 years as a Photo Lab Manager for Dillon's Northgate in 2003. He previously had retired from Cessna/Eaton after 30 years as an Engineer. He belonged to First Congregational Church.
On Oct. 29, 1971, he married Norma Jean Shepherd Jerauld in Hutchinson. She died May 4, 2004.
Survivors include: son, Michael R. and wife Sandi, Hutchinson; daughters, Cynthia Holmes and husband David, Hutchinson; and the Rev. Sandra Koerner and husband Chris, Arvada, Colo; stepchildren, Sam Jerauld and wife Debbie; Sue Horton and husband Max, and Kathy Nichols and husband Gary, all of Hutchinson; brother, Dick and wife Pat, Houston, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Don; and granddaughter, Edith Jean Jerauld.
Friends may call from 5-9 pm Wednesday and from 9-9 pm Friday, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Sylvia Cemetery, Sylvia, with a graveside service held at 11 am Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009. The Pastor Matt Stafford and the Rev. Sandra Koerner will be presiding. Memorials may be sent to Hospice and HomeCare of Reno County, in care of the mortuary.
