Funeral services for Mrs. H.S. Higginbotham, who died Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in an Abilene hospital after a brief illness, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the chapel of the Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home.
The services were conducted by the Rev. Walter Floyd, pastor of the First Baptist church, with interment in the City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Edwin Hart, Alton Laney, Grady Haynes, Thomas Reed, Leon Barron and Fred Stone.
Mrs. Higginbotham, the former Miss Sue Blythe, was born on August 8, 1916, in Kaufman County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Blythe. The family moved to Athens from Kaufman County in January of 1917, and Mr. Blythe operated a drug store here for a number of years.
Mrs. Higginbotham was reared in Athens, attended school here and was married to Mr. Higginbotham in Athens in 1938. She was employed by several beauty shops as an operator, the last the Mi Lady Beauty Shop, before she and Mr. Higginbotham moved to Abilene in 1940.
She was a member of the Baptist church.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Dallas Cramer Jr.; parents. Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Blythe of Crescent Heights; one brother, Lt. Commander Newell Blythe, stationed in Japan with the U.S. Navy; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Belle Coker of Austin and Mrs. Wayman Hood of Arlington.
