Early pioneer of Martin County, Minnesota; wife of Erastus Adams; daughter of Luke Randall and Jemima Van Slyck.

She married Erastus Adams on Jan. 28, 1844 in Harmony twp., New York. Their children were Benjamin, George, David, William, and Mary Anne. When Benjamin was born in 1845, the family was living in New York. From there, they migrated to Pennsylvania, where George was born in 1847 and David in 1852. By 1857, the family had moved to Minnesota, where William was born in 1862, and Mary Anne in 1864.

Following is her obituary from the Martin County Sentinel:

—OLD SETTLER GONE—Departed from this life on Saturday last, Mrs. Celestine Adams of Manyaska township, aged 77 years. Mr. and Mrs. Adams came to Martin county in 1867, and had lived here continuously ever since until called hence, Mr. Erastus Adams dying in 1894. Together they had endured all the privations of the frontier, suffering from cold, grasshoppers, and in fact from everything that afflicted the people in those days that tried the people, when the country was said to be under a "curse" until better times came. Mrs. Adams leaves two sons, Mr. George Adams of Sherburn, and William, who resides on the old home place near town. Funeral from the M.E. church on Tuesday, Elmer Simonds officiating. Interment in Sherburn cemetery. (Martin County Sentinel newspaper, Fairmont, Martin Co., MN, Friday, February 21, 1902; P10, C3)

NOTE: Many family genealogies published on the Internet erroneously state that "Femimice", a woman with a last name no one has ever been able to determine, was the wife of Luke Randall. This information is incorrect, and has its roots in a record that was incorrectly transcribed years ago. Transcribed correctly, the name is "Jemima".
