The National Park Service's Civil War database provides two separate records, that there was a Francis Cavit in the "82nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry" and a Francis Covert in the "82nd Regiment, United States Colored Infantry."
Records for these two men were likely mishandled. An original document can be viewed at Fold3.com proving that Capt. Francis Covert was dishonorably discharged in 1863, and would therefore not have been buried at a national cemetery.
PLEASE DO NOT MERGE THE TWO MEMORIALS.
