J. Wilson Hoopes Of Folsom, PA, age 86, died Sunday August 29, 1999 at Prospect Park Rehab & Nursing Care Center. Funeral Service: Friday, September 3 at KEVIN M. LYONS FUNERAL SERVICE, 202 S. Chester Pike, Glenolden, PA. Interment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Friends may call Friday after 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wilson was born in Northumberland, PA on August 17, 1913 to his late parents, Pearl Leona (née Hamor) and James Armstrong Hoopes of Folsom. Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Clarissa B. Hoopes (née Schreiber) of Folsom. He is also survived by his brother, John M. Hoopes of Boothwyn, PA; a niece Margaret Katherine Hoopes Downs Mateer & 2 nephews John Robert Hoopes and James Allan Hoopes.

Wilson was a graduate of Ridley Park High School, Class of 1932. He received his teaching degree from West Chester University in West Chester, PA. He taught at Ridley Township High School until 1946, where he taught math and was the Cross Country, Track and Jr. High Football coach. In the fall of 1946, he began his teaching and coaching career at Alexis I. DuPont School in Greenville, DE, until his retirement in June 1974. Wilson enjoyed traveling with his wife in their motor home and visited almost every state in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. He enjoyed spending his summers at their Villas, NJ home and winters in their Englewood, FL home. He was an avid reader.
