Jim was born March 26, 1942, the son of Carl Wesley and Lucille Fast Hofferber. He attended Adams Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1960. Due to his interest in drafting, Jim did course work at Panhandle State University.
Jim served his country in the U.S. Air Force beginning in November 1967. He received his honorable discharge in 1989 as a Tech Sergeant after serving 22 years in posts in Spain, Nebraska, Germany, Illinois and Texas.
Jim was united in marriage to Mikki Maryniak on Aug. 7, 1989 in New York.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker, VFW, enjoyed NASCAR racing, rural Oklahoma, loved music and his priorities were God, Country, Family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lucille Hofferber.
Survivors include his wife, Mikki Hofferber of the home, whom he lovingly called his Tootie; his sister of Guymon; dearly loved cousins, Patsy Fischer, Marva Herald, Karl Fast and Danny Fast; brother and sister-in-laws, Paul and Teri Maryniak, Jenny Schultz, Margie and Mike Gaskey, Tim and Anita Maryniak, Marlene Adamski, Mike Maryniak, Jimmy and Barb Maryniak and Aubrey Maryniak.
Memorial services will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hooker with Rev. Thomas House officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the St. John's Lutheran Church or the American Legion and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
