Cathie was my first cousin, a daughter of Charlotte (Atkinson) Fritz and the late William C. "Chuck" Bedillion. Her grandparents were Charles W.and Rowene (Fife) Atkinson and Frank W. and Bessie (Milligan) Bedillion.

A celebration of life for Catherine Jean Williams of Grass Valley will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of the Angels Mortuary in Grass Valley.

Mrs. Williams died Saturday, March 18. She was 56.

She was born Sept. 26, 1949, in Houston, Pa. She had been a resident of Grass Valley for 15 years. She worked for Lake Wildwood Security in Penn Valley and was known as "Queen of the Gate." She enjoyed reading, taking walks in nature, watching football (Cal Bears and the Raiders), and spending time with her grandsons.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Williams of Grass Valley; brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Polly Bedillion of Eureka; sister and brother-in-law, Suzan and Mike Carson of Penn Valley; brother, Fred Fritz of Campbell; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Elizabeth Silzle of Oakland; daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Scott Carpenter of Nevada City; son, Matthew Carson of St. Anthony, Idaho; niece and nephews Scott and Katelyn Carson of Penn Valley, and Evan Fritz of Campbell; and grandchildren Maxwell Riley and Leo Michael Carpenter of Nevada City.

Memorial contributions may be made to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalition of Nevada County.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of the Angels Mortuary.
