ALDRIDGE Mary Belle Lee Aldridge, 82, died April 22,,2005 in Atlantic Beach. Born in Long Beach, California, Mary Belle Aldridge was the daughter of Col. and Mrs. Sydney S. Lee. She was a great granddaughter of Commodore Sydney S. Lee, older brother of Robert E. Lee. A graduate of Sweet Briar College in Virginia, Mary Belle Aldridge worked in merchandising in Washington, D.C. until her marriage to Major Frederick S. Aldridge, USMC, at National Cathedral in 1949. Upon Colonel Aldridge's retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps, the family moved to Atlantic Beach in 1965. Surviving are her husband, her daughter, Mary Belle Heath Aldridge and son-in-law, Kyle E. Black, Jr., of Durham, N.C. and her grandson, Kyle Aldridge Black, presently at Yale University. Her son, Frederick S. Aldridge Jr., predeceased her.
