EDGAR W. McCARTNEY, 94, of 357 E. Northern Avenue, died in Community Hospital, Springfield, Clark, Ohio, Saturday at 12:05 a.m. following an illness of one week. He had resided in Springfield for 70 years.
He was born on January 14, 1873in Jackson County, Ohio, the son of John and Lucinda McCartney. He was active until 80 years of age, when he retired from the Oliver Corporation after more than 50 years of service. Mr. McCartney was a member of Central Methodist Church.
On October 2, 1902, he married Miss Josephine Melvin, and they would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Monday.
Survivors, at the time of his death included his wife, Josephine; two daughters, Mrs. R. M. Borst, and Mrs. Howard Kubie, both of Springfield; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was the last of 10 children.
His body was taken to the Littleton Funeral Home.
His obituary was found in the Springfield (O.) DAILY NEWS on September 30, 1967, page 3.
