She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Waterloo, daughter of Alfred "A.S." and Edna Klein Hekel. She married Alvin J. Knoop on Jan. 10, 1940, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 25, 2003.
Mrs. Knoop graduated from Waterloo West High School, and worked as a bookkeeper with Fagen Electric.
Survived by four sons, George (Becky) of Freeport, Ill., John (Barbara) of Waterloo, Charles (Linda) of Des Moines and Donald (Kathy) of Phoenix; three daughters, Judy (Millard) Bachman of Euless, Texas, Karen Knoop and Betsy (Steven) Minkel, both of Cedar Falls; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Gordon Hekel of Waterloo; and a sister, Lorna Wyckoff of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Elaine Knoop.
Services at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Home.
