About 6:00 PM or so in the evening, a suspect approached him and ordered him to put his hands up.
As Officer Daly attempted to draw his weapon the suspect shot him in the abdomen.
Officer Daly was taken to St. John's Hospital where he was pronounced at 6:20 PM.
Officer Daly was a member of the Secret Service Bureau and was only 30 years of age.
His wake was held at Harrigan & Sheahan Funeral Home located at 2618 Morgan St.
Interment was at Calvary Cemetery on 12/14/1920.
