Dr. Arthur H. Drane died at a Columbus sanitarium on the morning of April 1st at 1:30 o'clock, after an illness of one month.
Dr. Drane was a son of Dr. W. A. Drane of Buena Vista, and gave promise of being a great and useful citizen.
For nearly 2 years young Dr. Drane had been in the service of his country. He was Lieut. Commander and was with the American fleet that operated on the Irish coast and the North Sea. He was never very strong and the constant exposure and the very hard life that he was compelled to lead on the gun boat weakened his constitution so that he became easier prey for the disease that already was weakening him when he got his sick furlough.
He was affectionately called "Dr. Buss" by his friends. He was noble in character, generous, amiable and loving.
His untimely demise has caused universal sorrow. He left a large and lucrative practice to enter the service of his country, and was already known as a skilled surgeon and splendid physician.
His boundless energy and enthusiasm made his work a joy.
He lived worthily his short span of years and managed to touch so many of us with a good influence.
'Twas characteristic of "Buss" to love every body and the world responded to his love, and lavished affection upon him.
A vast throng of sorrowing friends came on Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock to the Buena Vista Methodist Church to pay the last respects to this noble boy.
Services were conducted by Rev Warnock, Rev Jones, Rev Trulock. He is survived by a grief stricken wife., a father, one brother and four sisters.
