Newspaper Obituary:
Died In Lebo, Monday, December 12, 1886, of sclerosis of the liver, Mahala, wife of G.R.C. Stowell, aged 66 years, 7 months and 9 days.The subject of the above notice was born in Otego, Ostego county, N.Y. May 4, 1820. She was married to Mr. Stowell June 12, 1837, by Rev. Howe, in Courtland County, N.Y. Mr. Stowell and family emigrated to Iowa in 1852, locating in Jones county, from there they moved to Lucas county in '58 and from there to Kansas in 1882, locating near Lebo, where they have since lived. In 1856 she was converted and united with the M.E. church. In the year 1882 she, with her husband, joined the M.P. church. She has been afflicted continuously for more than a year.Her confidence was all in Christ, as being able to take her to the place prepared for the faithful.
She leaves an aged and afflicted husband, one son, two daughters and a number of grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her demise.Her funeral took place at the M.P. church, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. The large congregation gave evidence of their respect and sympathy. Her remains were interred in Lincoln cemetery.The choir rendered excellent music for the occasion, for which they have many thanks. J.C.M.
