Marjorie E. Schaeffer, 83, of JC Proctor Endowment Home in Peoria, passed away there at Friday, Sept. 1, 2006.

Marjorie was born April 17, 1923, in Peoria, Ill., to J. Frank and Bertha Brady Cree and raised in Wyoming, Ill. She married Robert D. Schaeffer on June 9, 1951, in Peoria. He passed away on March 26, 1981, in Peoria.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Cree.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen (Pierre) Serafin of Peoria; and one son, Rex (Valerie) Schaeffer of Bloomington, Ill.

She graduated from Toulon High School in 1940 and from Brown College of Business in 1942.

She worked at Caterpillar Inc. and the Peoria Journal Star, retiring in 1951.

She was a member and officer of the Von Steubens Mothers Club. She also was a member of University United Methodist Church, PTO at Woodruff High School, Women's Betterment Society and a volunteer during World War II for Ellis Military Aides.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
