Several of Harriet's brothers who enlisted for service in the Civil War served in the 5th Regiment of the Kansas Volunteer Cavalry, as did a Franklin Williams. Franklin's Muster Date was 27 Jan 1862 into Co G, 5th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry and Mustered out of Co K, 5th Regiment Kansas Volunteer Cavalry on 27 Jan 1865.

Mrs. Harriett E. Elliott, 79 years of age, died last evening at the family home in the Cowiche from senile decay. She leaves seven children. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the family residence. The Rev. W. F. Furner of the First Church of Christ will officiate and the body will be interred in the Cowiche cemetery.
