Services for Joseph Dalton "J.D." Leatherwood, 64, of Anniston, Rt. 4, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Harry Warren and the Rev. Paul Blanchard officiating. Burial will be in Eulaton First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Leatherwood died Sunday at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Helen Leatherwood of Anniston; two daughters, Mrs. Melanie Choron and Mrs. Tammy Bergstresser, both of Anniston; two sons, Joseph Leatherwood of Houston, and Julian Leatherwood of Anniston; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Sims and Mrs. Julia Rust, both of Anniston; a brother, Neal Leatherwood of Anniston; eight grandchildren, three step-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Grant Cotton, John Rhule, Bob Pope, Morris Burt, Ed Feazell, B.B Timms, Tommy Waugh and Lestrell Dawson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Barnabus Sunday school class at Eulaton First Baptist Church.
Mr. Leatherwood was a Calhoun County native and lifelong resident. He was a retired employee from Ryder Truck Lines and a former employee of Buckner Steel and Plumbing Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II and a member of Eulaton First Baptist
Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
