Lorenzo Montoya, age 63, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M. passed away on Wednesday Dec.18, 2008, at the Princeton Place Nursing Home in Albuquerque, following an extended illness.
He was born in Sapello, N.M., on Aug. 19, 1945, to late Sotero Montoya and Mercedes Ruiz Montoya and was united in marriage to Rose Gallegos.
He served in the National Guard for 12 years and was a self-employed landscaper.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Sotero and Mercedes Montoya; wife: Rose Montoya and sons: Mark Montoya and Matthew Montoya.
He is survived by his grandchildren: Marissa Montoya and fiancé Patrick of Los Lunas, N.M., Matthew Montoya, Jr., Isabel Montoya, Jose Montoya and Mark Montoya Jr. and girlfriend Antoinette all of Las Vegas, N.M. and Clarissa Montoya of Questa, N.M.; one great-grandchild; numerous sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday morning at 9 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Manuelitas Cemetery in Manuelitas, N.M.
He will lie in state at the Rogers Chapel on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at 1 p.m., to 8:30 p.m., where family and friends may call.
