Nicolaus, as he was called, married Johanna Charlotte Dorathea Bode sometime prior to the birth of their son in 1867. Dorathea, as she was called, was born 26 Oct. 1834 in the Lueneberg Province of Hannover, Germany. The couple had at least five known children, all born in Hannover, Germany. Heinrich Frederick Adolph was born 17 July 1867 and married Emma Wunderlich. George John Henry was born 23 April 1869 and married Elizabeth Eugenia Klohs. Doretta was born 22 April 1872 and married Charles Kruse, Sr. Carl was born 18 March 1874 and married Selma Braeuer. Minna was born 29 Jan 1877 and married Otto Tuerk. The Schroeder family immigrated to the port of Galveston, Texas in 1879, settling briefly in the community of Shelby in Austin Co. before moving to the Round Top area in Fayette Co., where their son Adolph was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in 1882. In 1891 the family moved to Cheapside in Gonzales Co., TX. The family made its living by farming. Heinrich Nicolaus Schroeder died at Cheapside on 22 Dec. 1891. His wife Johanna Charlotte Dorathea (Bode) Schroeder died at Cheapside 5 Jan. 1902. Both are buried in Ruppert Cemetery in Cheapside.
