Homer Edward Alfs, 88, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2008, in Fort Smith. He was a retired electrician after 40 years service for Corn Products Corp.; he was a veteran of the Army and a lifelong member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pekin, Ill.

He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; three daughters, Patt and her husband, Jim Kolettis of Fort Smith, Linda Ryan of St. Charles, Mo., and Andrea and her husband, Ron Francis of Fort Smith; three grandchildren, Todd Ryan, Sydney Laster and Niko Kolettis; and two great-grandchildren, Zach and Noah Laster.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at 10 a.m. at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel and burial will be Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at 10 a.m. at U.S. National Cemetery, all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
