Therese Jacobine Helene Friederike Wilhelmine Rabenaldt, not surprisingly shortened to just Therese, was born to Carl Gottfried Christian Rabenaldt and Henriette Caroline Amalie (Schmidt) Rabenaldt on 28 Feb. 1857 in Wolferstedt in the Province of Saxony, Germany. She married Friedrich Ernst Kuemmel on 31 May 1870 in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Voigstedt. Ernst, as he was called, was born in Voigstedt, Province of Saxony, Germany on 15 Jan. 1854 to Gottfried Kuemmel and Johanna Christina (Schneider) Kuemmel. Therese and Ernst Kuemmel had three children born to them in Voigstedt--Karl Otto, born 3 Oct. 1876, died 20 April 1896 in Gruenau, DeWitt Co., TX; Anna, born 26 Jan 1880, died 3 Aug. 1880 in Germany; and Paul, born 26 Jan. 1882, died 11 Aug. 1917 in DeWitt Co., TX.

The Kuemmel family emigrated to Texas in 1885 along with Therese's parents, Carl Gottfried Christian Rabenaldt and Henriette Amalie (Schmidt) Rabenaldt, and Therese's brother, Edmund Rabenaldt. They arrived in New York on 16 Nov. 1885 on the ship "California," with their stated destination being Schulenberg, TX. By 1886 the Kuemmel and Rabenaldt families were living in Wied in Lavaca Co., TX. By 1890 they had moved to Gruenau, a small farming community near Yorktown in DeWitt Co., TX.

After their son Paul and his wife Olga (Ladewig) Kuemmel died at early ages, Therese and her husband Ernst took in their seven children. Therese herself died 10 Jan. 1924 in the Gruenau Community. Friedrich Ernst Kuemmel died 7 Jan. 1942 in Yorktown, TX at the home of his daughter and her husband, Anna (Kimmel) and Adolph Schroeder. Both are buried at Sandy Gate Cemetery near Nopal, DeWitt Co., TX.
