The funeral for Verna Mae Anderson, 89, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Edwin Jenkins and Joe Teal officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Anderson died Saturday, December 13, 2008, at the Limestone Health Facility.

Survivors include five sons, Clarence Andrew Anderson of Decatur, Ralph Richard Anderson of Birmingham, Marlin Atwood Anderson Jr., Curtis Jackson Anderson and Ross Elmore, all of Athens; two daughters, Marla Hooie Easter of Elkmont and Lisa Rodgers of Athens; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Anderson was born June 17, 1919 in Jasper to Andrew McCullers and Lillie Woodley McCullers.

She was a member of the Blackburn Homemakers Club and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a loving wife and mother.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband Marlin Atwood Anderson Sr., her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Drew Anderson, Matthew Anderson, Jay Hooie, Sean Hooie, Patrick Hooie, Chris Anderson, Nicholas Anderson, Justin Anderson, Jordan Anderson, Chad Anderson, David Anderson and Daniel Anderson.
