OBITUARY: Published in the Wyoming Press 7 June 1902 [Saturday], page 1.
HAMMAR.
Charles Hammar, aged 68 years, died at his home in this city on Monday last [2 June 1902], of pneumonia, after a three days' illness.
Deceased was an old-timer in Evanston, having resided here for thirty years.
He was born in Philadelphia, Penn., and came west in the sixties, locating at Brayn station [should read Bryan station], from which point he drove the Wells-Fargo express to Salt Lake. He was in the employ of the Union Pacific at Wasatch many years ago, and when Evanston was made the division point came here and gave his services to that company for twenty years, having resided here permanently until death.
Mr. Hammar was a man of steady habits and a good citizen well respected by all his acquaintances. He assisted in rearing a family of six girls, now grown, and all of whom are now living.
Funeral services were conducted at the family home on Wednesday [4 June 1902], Rev. Robert Y. Evans, of the Episcopal church officiating.

BIRTH: Note that his tombstone has the year 1833. In the 1850 census he was 16 years old, putting his birth about 1834. The birth date given on his LDS Church Membership record (during his lifetime) was 13 February 1835. I use that date.
