Designated a Naval Aviation Pilot (NAP) as well as a Naval Aviator (#3104) in 1923.

First Sergeant N. W. Abbott, USMC, was one of two Marines killed when the plane he was piloting crashed.

Parents were George Abbott and Ada Elvira (Flint) Guthrie. Gave his DoB as Dec. 6, 1899 when enlisting on Jan. 18, 1917, at age 15.
