LARY GEORGE HUMES, b. 05 Feb 1950, Colorado; d. 23 Feb 1973, Colorado (Source: "Newspaper Clipping," Dateline: Trinidad (C-SJ) Larry George Humes, 23, a Trinidad State Junior College student from Salida, was killed in a one-vehicle accident at 11:55 p.m. Thursday on U.S. 350 about 1 mile east of Trinidad. Humes, who apparently died from a broken neck, was the rear seat passenger in a sedan driven by Eddie Charles Salazar, 20, of Manassa. Alfonso Bustos, 20 of Olathe was the other passenger.

Lary was the son of Clarence and Joy Tuttle Humes. He was survived by his twin brother Gary Humes and sister currently living in Denver area. Lary had just returned (not sure on the timing - but seemed like it was less than a year) from his service in the Vietnam War.

Found this on the internet re: inscription "Vietnam BSM - OLC on his headstone.

A BSM is the Bronze Star Medal..the OLC is an Oak Leaf Cluster...indicating a second or subsequent award. It means he was awarded the BSM twice.
