The Bolivar Commercial, Friday, December 5, 2008: Annie J. Blockett, 61, of Cleveland died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pilgrim M.B. Church with Pastor Irving Barker officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Cleveland.

Visitation was from 1-5 p.m. today at Brinson Funeral Home.

She was born Jan. 13, 1947, to Riley and Jodie Mae James in Cleveland. At an early age, she was baptized at United Baptist Church and later became a member of Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church.

After graduating from East Side High School in 1967, she married McKinley Blockett Jr. on Aug. 13, 1967.

She was preceded in death by her father, Riley James, and grandson, Antonius Blockett.

She is survived by mother, Jodie Mae James of Renova; two children, Vonda Smith of Tupelo and Rodney Blockett of Cleveland; 13 siblings, Shirley Williams of Renova, Hilda Fisher of Linn, Wendell James of Pascagoula, Mose James of Raymond, Charles James of Jackson, Cathy Lavender of Pontotoc, Johnnie Ruth James of Columbus, Ohio, Joseph James of San Diego and Maggie Simpson, Marie Forrest, Lester James, Jannie James and Raymond James, all of Lima, Ohio; nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family.
