Lois M. O'Meara, 77, of Iowa City, Iowa, formerly of Dubuque, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where a parish scripture wake service will be at 3:30 p.m.
She was born on Feb. 12, 1931, in Dubuque, daughter of Nicholas and Della (Freeze) Hingtgen. She graduated from the Visitation Academy.
She married Leonard "Lenny" O'Meara Jr. on June 7, 1952, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on July 8, 1994.
Lois and Lenny owned and operated The 61-20 Club, and later she worked at Betty Jane Candies. She moved to Iowa City after the death of her husband, where she worked for Four Seasons Women Apparel.
Lois enjoyed camping, fishing, baking, gardening and bingo.
Surviving are her daughters, Kelly Ann O'Meara, of Tempe, Ariz., and Kim (Dick) Downes, of Iowa City; grandchildren, Luke and Haley Downes; a brother, Duane (Betty) Hingtgen; a sister, Rainie (Jerry) Westemeyer; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hingtgen, all of Dubuque.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Melvin and Gil Hingtgen.
