He was born on July 20, 1940, in Detroit to George & Clara Rivard. He grew up in Royal Oak, MI and was known to be quite a childhood prankster. Bob would spend hours telling tales about his young mis-adventures! He attended St. Mary's Elementary School and Dondero H.S. in Royal Oak. He was a most loving man to all who knew him, but not always lucky in love. He married and divorced a few times during his life. His family includes Debbie and Robert Jr (who died in infancy) with Barbara, son Jeff with Peggy, and step-daughter Dorothy with wife Ruth. He also had two sons raised by fathers who adopted them, Brian and Donald.
Animals were one of Bobs loves and he had several dogs and cats. Most were saved from shelters.
Bob formerly owned and operated a janitorial services company in San Diego for over 29 years, having moved west for the sunshine and good weather in 1974. Missing family in his retirement, he moved back to Michigan in 2006. Surviving are wife, Ruth; children Debra (Pat) Frasier of Hazel Park, Jeff (Glory) Rivard and Dorothy both of San Diego, his siblings in Michigan Rick (Virginia), Tom (Linda) and sister Carol in California; grandchildren David, Shannon and Amanda, plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Robert Allen Rivard, his sisters, Connie and Linda and by his parents.
