Jacob John Ackerman, Jr. was born in Hallgarten, Bavaria to Jacob John Ackerman, Sr. and Charlotte Hartman. He was married to Elizabeth Becker in 1868 in Danielsville, PA. They would have 6 children: Margaret (Maggie) Bachman, John J. Ackerman, Jacob Henry Ackerman, Minnie McAfee, Joseph Franklin, and Katherine Elizabeth Moll. All but John J. would be buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. John J. being buried in Saint Johns German Lutheran Cemetery, Tamaqua (Row 24-291).
