GILBERT LEROY "GIL" WILSON JR.

Gilbert Leroy "Gil" Wilson Jr., 72, of 1212 W. 22nd St., died Saturday, Jan.
18, 1997, in his home. He was born and reared in Bradenton and has been a resident of Panama City for the past 49 years. He was a retired school administrator with 40 years of service, 38 of which were here in Bay County.
He was a member of the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ where he served as a elder for over 25 years.

Mr. Wilson was a 1941 graduate of Bradenton High School, and a 1946 graduate of the University of Florida where he was a member of the Grand Guard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was very active in this community. He was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club for over 30 years.
He also served as a court mediator. He was instrumental in setting up the alternative school program and teen parenting program at Haney Vocational Tech. Mr. Wilson was a principal, coach, teacher, and servant. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Wilson two daughters, Pam Miller and her husband, Alan, of Huntsville, Ala., Suzanne Witham and her husband, Gary, of Panama City, four grandchildren, Chris Miller and Christy Miller, both of Huntsville, and Gary Paul Witham and Melanie Witham, both of Panama City, sister, Shirley Gainey, of Nashville, Tenn.; three nieces, Rhonda Bourke of Limmerick, Ireland, Beverly Severance and Brenda Gainey, both of Nashville, Tenn.; nephew, Gordon Brainerd, of Tampa; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ with Jack E. Reese and Hugh H. Tucker Jr. officiating, Internment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. this afternoon. Those desiring may make a contribution to the Jenks Avenue Church of Christ Building Fund in memory of Gil Wilson.
