Jane "Granny" Wadlow, 81, died at 2:05 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at St. Louis University Hospital. She was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Otter Creek Township in Jersey County to Leslie R. and Tessie E. (Bethel) Spangle. She married Howard "Poppy" Wadlow on May 29, 1941, in Elsberry, Mo. He died Jan. 11, 2005.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a cook at Illini Junior High School in Jerseyville. She was a member of the New Wings of Doves Church in Jerseyville, Order of the Eastern Star Lodge 990 in Calhoun for more than 50 years and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution Dr. Silas Hamilton Chapter.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon K. and David Sanford of Jerseyville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Clayton and Sharon Y. Wadlow of Jerseyville, Stan and Mary Ann Wadlow of Godfrey and Tom and Sharon E. Wadlow of Jerseyville; grandchildren, Sue and Stan Hawkins, Jill and Brad Brown, Joe and Michelle Wadlow, Tony and Cheryl Wadlow, Becky Wadlow, Rachel and Matt Herring, Alyssa and Colton Wadlow; great-grandchildren, Jantzen and Jaelyn Hawkins, Kinley Brown, T.J. and Carrie Wadlow, Mike, James, Andrew, Justin and Bailey Wadlow; great-great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Brennan Wadlow; two brothers, Raymond Estel "Pat" Spangle of Tucson, Ariz., and Forrest Spangle of Clearwater, Fla.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Elva and Bud Wadlow of Jerseyville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church in Jerseyville. The Rev. Randy Cartwright will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jersey Community Hospital Foundation. © The Telegraph 2006
