Newspaper Obituary from The Belvidere Standard, January 6, 1874. The paper might have been published monthly or bi-monthly. The obit was printed and dated nearly a month after her death.

Died, DeMunn- On Wed, Dec 10th 1873, at the residence of her son Silas DeMunn in the township of Leroy, Boone County, Illinois, Mrs Clarisssa DeMunn, (also) Mother of HC DeMunn of Belvidere.

She came to this County, (Boone), with her son Silas T about 8 years ago from Genesee County, New York where she had resided for upwards of 50 years. She was born in Willington, Tolland Connecticut.

The following additional info written by Great, Great, Great Grandson Wayne DeMunn:

Clarissa was born in 1786 to John Goodwill and Sally Goodwill (Johnson), at about the time the American Revolution ended. She lived through the War of 1812, was married and widowed twice by age 40.

She had at least 11 documented children from those two husbands. 7 with 1st husband William C Tisdale (1782-1820) and 4 with 2nd husband John DeMunn (1785-1826).

She survived through the Civil War Period, and at 80 years of age no less, sold the family farm in New York and went west with her youngest son, Silas DeMunn and his family to the Prairie State of Illinois, where another DeMunn son, Horatio was already living. She then lived out her final 7 years of life in the LeRoy Township, Capron Illinois area.

A couple of added notes for family researchers:

1. The Headstone shows 2nd husband, John DeMunn's birth and death dates at the top and Clarissa's at the bottom. According to family records, John was buried in the State of New York in Maple Hill Cemetery, also known as North Darien Cemetery.

2. Dullam Cemetery is located in LeRoy Township near Capron. Both are in Boone County, Illinois but the Village of Capron is in Boone Township.
